WB SET Exam Pattern 2014 Paper Pattern and Selection Process
The West Bengal State Eligibility Test (WB SET) is the qualifying examination held for short listing candidates in the post of Assistant Professors and Librarian respectively. The candidates applying in the concerned exam are placed in some of the good colleges and universities of the West Bengal State. The exam is conducted for the following main subjects: English, Urdu, Sociology, Geography, Hindi, Bengali, Sanskrit, Economics, Education, Chemical Sciences, Psychology, Electronic Sciences, Computer Science and Applications, Home Science, Physical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Library & Information sciences, Commerce, History, Political Science, Philosophy and Commerce respectively.

WB SET Exam Pattern 2014:
The West Bengal State Eligibility Test is conducted every year in the months of September/ October respectively by the West Bengal College Service Commission. The candidates preparing for the concerned exam should go through the details of the exam including the selection process from the information as given below.
Paper Pattern:
The entrance exam will be held for the following three papers having multiple choice based questions from the concerned subject.
Paper 1:
It consists of 60 Questions out of which50 questions have to be compulsorily attempted by the candidates for qualifying in this paper. The candidates will be given two marks for each answer attempted correctly by them.
Total Marks: 100
Total Questions: 60
Time of Exam: 09:30 am to 10:45 am
Paper 2:
It consists of 50 questions and the candidates will have to attempt all the questions for qualifying in this paper. The candidates will be given two marks for each correct question answered by them
Total Marks: 100
Total Questions: 50
Time of Exam: 10:45 am – 12:00 noon
Paper 3:
This paper contains 75 questions to be attempted compulsorily by the candidates in the required cut off as mentioned for this purpose.
Total Questions: 75
Total Marks: 150
Time of Exam: 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm
Syllabus for Exam:
Paper 1: Reasoning Ability, Comprehension, Teaching Aptitude, General Awareness, Numerical Ability, Data Interpretation, Computers and Logical Thinking
Paper 2: Subject based questions of objective type
In other words we can say that the syllabus of the WB SET is prepared on the similar lines of the syllabus of the UGC NET.
Qualifying Criteria:
The candidates are required to score the minimum cut off as needed for each paper in the exam. The candidates belonging to the un reserved categories should score at least 40% marks in the Paper 1 and 2 whereas the minimum marks required for the Paper 3 is 50% respectively.
