UPCMET Exam Pattern 2014 for Admissions to Medical Courses

The Uttar Pradesh Combined Medical Entrance Test (UPCMET) is the qualifying exam conducted for inviting admissions to different under graduate medical courses in the different private and government medical colleges in the state of Uttar Pradesh or those colleges that are member of the Unaided Medical Colleges Welfare Association, the conducting authority for this exam. The entrance exam fills about 400 seats as made available in the Non Minority Unaided Medical Colleges of UP.

Exam Pattern for UPCMET:

The UP CMET Exam is composed of objective type and multiple choice based questions on the following main sections. There will be two papers in the entrance exam having questions on the below given topics:

Paper I: Physical and Biological Sciences

Section A: Physical Sciences

Physics (50 Questions) and Chemistry (50 Questions)

Total Questions: 100

Time Allotted: 2 and a half hours

Section B: Biological Sciences

Zoology (50 Questions)

Botany (50 Questions)

Total Questions: 100

Paper II: General English (Qualifying Paper to be compulsorily attempted by all the candidates)

There will be 50 Questions carrying 50 Marks for the candidates to score in this paper.

Physics: Work, Energy and Power; Magnetism; Waves; Laws of Motion; Oscillations; Laws of Motion; Gravitation; Electromagnetic Waves; Solids and Semiconductor; Motions in One Dimension and Two Dimension; Electrons and Photons; Heat and Thermodynamics; Magnetic and Measurement; Rotational Motion and Ray Optics and Optical Instruments respectively.

Chemistry: States of Matter; Electrochemistry; Equilibrium; Biomolecules; Environmental Chemistry; Redox Reactions; Surface Chemistry; Polymers; Classification of Elements; Isolation of Elements; Organic Compounds; Solutions; D and F Block Elements; Coordination Compounds; Hydrogen; Chemical Kinetics; S-Block Elements; Basic Concepts in Chemistry; Purification and characterizations of carbon compounds; Hydrocarbons and Solid State Chemistry respectively.

Biology: Biotechnology; Unit of Life and Structure; Diversity; Ecology; Growth and Movement in Plants; Genetics and Evolution; Structure and Function- Animals/ Plants; Reproduction and Development and Humans and Biology and Human Welfare respectively

Marking Criteria:

The candidates will be penalized in the form of one-fourth marks deducted for all the wrong attempts made by them. The candidates should secure the minimum cut off marks as required for this purpose which as follows: For Paper I: 50% marks (40% marks for SC/ST/OBC) and for Paper II: 50% Marks (40% Marks for SC/ST/OBC) candidates respectively.
