UPCAT Exam Pattern 2014 Details of Eligibility, Syllabus & Qualifying Criteria
The Uttar Pradesh Common Admission Test (UPCAT) is the common entrance exam conducted by the state medical and dental colleges under the Association of Private Medical & Dental Colleges of UP. The exam is popularly called as the “All India Common Admission Test”. The candidates are provided admissions in the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) course in any of the 23 private dental colleges of the Uttar Pradesh state.

Conducting Authority: Association of Private Medical & Dental Colleges of UP
Courses of Admission: BDS
Eligibility for Exam:
The applicants should be Intermediate (10+2) passed with a minimum of 50% marks (40% marks for SC/ST/OBCs) obtained in the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English respectively.
Also, the qualifying age of all the candidates should be at least 17 years brought into effect from 31st December of the year of admission for this purpose.
Paper Pattern:
The exam for the admission of candidates in the BDS courses will be based on the multiple choice based questions on the following main subjects:
Physics (50 Questions)
Chemistry (50 Questions)
Botany (50 Questions) and
Zoology (50 Questions) respectively

Total Number of Questions: 200
Total Marks Allotted: 200
Duration of Exam: 3 Hours
Marking Criteria:
The applicants will be given one marks for each correct answer attempted by them while there will be deduction of zero marks for the wrong answers attempted by them respectively. Since, there is no negative marking in the exam hence; the applicants can attempt as many questions as they like to score more in the concerned exam.
Syllabus of Study:
The candidates should prepare as per the syllabus of the Class 11th and 12th of the concerned Board/ University and the scheme for intermediate science as prescribed for this purpose.
The Uttar Pradesh Common Admission Test is mostly conducted in the first week of May every year.
