TISS MBA Exam Pattern 2014 Details of Examination Scheme and Qualifying Criteria

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) conducts the National Entrance Test (NET) for offering admissions to the students in different courses available under the institute. The Institute offers admission in 45 socially relevant courses in the following main disciplines- HR (Human Resources), Social Work, Climate Sciences and Health Management respectively.

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences is the deemed university established in the year 1936 by SDTT (Sri Dorabji Tata Trust). Initially called as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School, the institute was renamed as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in the year 1944. Paper Pattern for TISS NET:

The TISS National Eligibility Test is an online test conducted in computer modes only. There are basically three sections in the exam on the following main topics:

Section I: General Awareness (30 Questions)

Section II: Mathematics & LR (Logical Reasoning): 35 Questions

Section III: English Proficiency (35 Questions)

Total Number of Questions: 100

Duration of Exam: 1Hour 40 Minutes

Marking Scheme:

The candidates will be given 1 mark for each question answered correctly by them. There is no negative marking in the exam hence; the candidates can attempt as many questions as they like in the concerned exam to score well.

Syllabus of Study:

Section I: General Awareness

The section on General Awareness shall contain 30 questions on the following topics: Current Events including significant political events, Geography and History, Sociological Awareness, Literature, Economic Processes and Films, Arts and Music across the world etc

Section II: Mathematics & LR:

It consists of 35 questions on the following main topics: Number Theory and Basic Geometry, Simultaneous Equations, Ratio and Proportion, Simple and Compound Interest, Speed, Distance and Time and Basic Set Concepts etc

The LR section shall cover the following topics under it- Alphabets, Relationships, Validity of Conclusions and Identifying Patterns etc

Section III: English Proficiency

It consists of 35 questions in the following topics: Passage based questions, Vocabulary Test, Comprehension Test and appropriate pairing of words etc
