The Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth is a declared deemed to be university established u/s 3 of UGC Act 1956 in the year 2001.The university had been awarded the status of a deemed university in the year 2008. The university offers admissions in the main campus as well as affiliated colleges including Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute and Shri Sathya Sai Medical College and Research Institute respectively. The university conducts a separate entrance test for admissions in the Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, commonly called as, SBVUMCET (Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University Medical Common Entrance Test).

Courses for Admission & Pattern of Examination:
Through the concerned entrance exam, applicants get admitted to the following courses available as per the seats availability: DM Cardiology, M.Ch Urology, M.Ch Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery and M.Ch Neuro Surgery respectively. In order to enroll in all the stated courses, applicants must fulfill the minimum eligibility conditions as laid out by MCI (Medical Council of India) for this purpose i.e. a post graduate degree in General Medicine/ General Surgery from a recognized university/ college of MCI. The entrance exam would be having 100 multiple choice based questions of 1 mark each whereby at least 50% marks is essential to score in each paper for clearing the test.
Schedule of Exam & Admit Cards:
The applicants will be required to appear in the exam normally conducted in the last week of July every year. The last entrance exam was conducted on 26th July 2014 from 12:00 noon. The applicants shall receive their admit card by post offline and no online links would be released for this purpose. Those applicants who fail to receive their admit card by post may contact the college authorities for getting duplicate admit cards. The hall tickets must be produced on examination day as no entry would be given without it. The hall tickets must be having the name of applicant, registration number and photograph respectively on it. The duplicate admit card shall be issued to deserving candidates before two-three days of exam date by “Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute” Puducherry by verifying the application and photographs of the applicant concerned.
