The SASTRA (Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology and Research Academy) University was founded in the year 1984. Since, then it has been playing an active role in educating students enrolled under different disciplines including the above stated ones. The major disciplines under which university programmes are available include the following: Engineering, Science, Education, Management, Law and Arts respectively. Along with other courses, the university also runs a five year integrated programme in engineering under its School of Engineering. The university constitutes a total of 8 schools namely –School of Biotechnology, School of Civil Engineering, School of Computing, School of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, School of Humanities & Science, School of Management and School of Mechanical Engineering respectively.

The university annual semester examinations are held twice a year in the months of April/ May and October/ November respectively. The candidates are provided admit cards online /offline as per the conveniences of university. The applicants are normally issued admit cards by the concerned departments offline at their respective offices.
