4 August Update : The Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS), under the Ministry of Cooperatives, Government of India, has achieved a momentous milestone with the successful launch of the Sahara Refund Portal. This portal brings a glimmer of hope to nearly 10 crore members of the Sahara Group, as its primary objective is to facilitate the refund of approximately Rs. 5,000 crore to investors whose funds have been locked in for an extended period.

The grand inauguration of the Sahara Refund Portal was held on July 18, 2023, graced by the esteemed presence of the Hon’ble Union Minister for Home & Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah. This significant event marks a new chapter in the quest to return investments to their rightful owners.

The Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) has introduced the Sahara Refund Portal as a dedicated platform to facilitate refunds for investors associated with Sahara Group’s Cooperative Societies. This portal has been designed with the primary objective of returning approximately Rs. 5,000 crore to those whose investments have been stuck for a significant duration.

The inauguration of the Sahara Refund Portal took place on July 18, 2023, with the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Union Minister for Home & Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah. Its user-friendly interface has been thoughtfully crafted to offer a seamless experience for investors seeking to reclaim their investments.

CRCS Sahara Refund Portal Registration

Eligibility Criteria for CRCS Sahara Refund Portal The genuine and legitimate Depositors of following four Sahara Societies are eligible for refund through the CRCS Sahara Refund Portal

i) Humara India Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Kolkata.

ii) Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Lucknow.

iii) Saharayan Universal Multipurpose Society Limited, Bhopal.

iv) Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, Hyderabad

Who can apply?

On the CRCS Sahara Refund Portal, depositors who meet the eligibility criteria from four Sahara group societies, namely Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Ltd., Saharayan Universal Multipurpose Society Ltd., Humara India Credit Cooperative Society Ltd., and Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd., have the opportunity to apply for a refund.

Eligibility Criteria for Filing a Claim – 

The Depositors must have made deposits & have outstanding dues receivable
before the following dates, for filing a claim request :

22nd March 2022 for – 

1. Humara India Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Kolkata.

2. Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Lucknow.

3. Saharayan Universal Multipurpose Society Limited, Bhopal.

29th March 2023 for:

1. Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, Hyderabad.

Online Apply Process for CRCS Sahara Refund – To request a refund through the Sahara Refund Portal, just follow these straight forward steps :

1. Go to the official website: https://mocrefund.crcs.gov.in/Depositor/Login.

2. Complete the registration process by entering your Aadhaar number, mobile number, and other essential details.

3. Verify your email address to facilitate future communication.

4. Log in to your account using your Aadhaar number and mobile number.

5. Familiarize yourself with the portal’s instructions and features to ensure a seamless application process.

6. Provide accurate and comprehensive information by filling out the online refund request form.

7. Upload the required documents, ensuring they meet the specified size limits.

8. Double-check all the information and documents for accuracy before proceeding to submit the refund request.

9. Finally, submit your refund request through the portal.

Refund Process & Amount for CRCS Sahara Refund – During the initial phase, the refund portal is set to distribute a total of Rs 5,000 crore among depositors. In this phase, each depositor will have the opportunity to claim a maximum of Rs 10,000. As a trial basis, the portal will initiate refunds of Rs 10,000 to investors initially, and based on the success of this trial, the refund amount may be increased in the future.

Sahara Refund Portal OTP Not Received

If users are experiencing challenges in receiving the OTP on the Sahara India Refund Portal while entering their Aadhaar number, it could be attributed to technical glitches on the recently launched website. In such cases, it is advised to remain patient and attempt the process again at a later time. It is probable that the developers are actively working to resolve the issue, and with some time, users should be able to receive the OTP and successfully complete their registration on the portal without any hindrance.

“Depositor Registration.” Fill in the details like last 4 digits of your

Aadhaar Card, and mobile number linked with Aadhaar, on the

Registration Page accurately. Click on “Get OTP” and enter the OTP

received. Click “Verify OTP” to complete the mandatory registration

process.

 Step 2: Depositor Login:

Visit the Home Page of CRCS Sahara Refund Portal and click on

“Depositor Login” Fill in the details like last 4 digits of your Aadhaar

Card, and mobile number linked with Aadhaar, on the Depositor

Login Page accurately. Click on “Get OTP” and enter the OTP received.

Click “Verify OTP” to login.

Q7. What details does a Depositor need to provide with the Claim Request form /  Application?

Ans. The Depositor should have:

  1. Membership no.
  2. Deposit Account no.
  3. Aadhaar linked Mobile no. (Mandatory)
  4. Deposit certificates/ Passbook

Ans. Depositor must have PAN card, if claim amount is Rs. 50,000/- and above.

Q10. Are Aadhaar linked Mobile No. and Bank Account mandatory?

Ans. Yes, the Depositor should have Aadhaar linked mobile No. and Aadhaar

seeded Bank account mandatorily without which, the claim request cannot be

filed on the Portal.
