SNDT (Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey) Women’s University is the 1st ever Women’s university of India and in South-East Asia as well. The University was established in the year 1961 by Maharshi Dr. Dhondo Keshav Karve for a dignified cause of Education for Women. In 1921, the first 05 women were graduated from the University. The University head office is in Mumbai, Churchgate Campus and the rest 02 campuses of the University are at Karve Road, Pune and Juhu, Mumbai. Presently, the University has enrolled over 70,000 students in its 03 campuses situated respectively at Santacruz-Juhu, Churchgate and Pune. The SNDT Women’s University has 26 colleges, 38 departments in the university and 11 faculties. There University is having 11 UG colleges & 38 PG departments. The university persists to manage 03 secondary girls’ schools, which it had hereditary. The university is enthusiastically involved in research, teaching & extension. SNDT is the 1st university in Maharashtra to get hold of a 05 star rating from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of India.
