The Periyar Maniammai University (PMU) has originated from the Periyar Maniammai College of Technology for Women established in the year 1988 by Periyar Maniammai Educational and Charitable Society Chennai. The college was initially affiliated to Bharathidasan University and afterwards to Anna University Chennai. The college has been awarded the status of a deemed to be university as on 17th August 2007 by the Ministry of Human Resources & Development.

The university major courses are available in the following main disciplines: Architecture, Engineering & Technology, Computing Sciences & Engineering and Humanities, Science and Management respectively. The candidates in order to enroll under university courses must appear and qualify the entrance examinations conducted for this purpose. The university courses can be availed in both regular as well as distance modes. The admissions to the university distance courses are made available through the Centre for Online and Distance Education (COADE) of Periyar Maniammai University. The university examinations are held through the following centres of examinations namely- Thanjavur, Trichy, Chennai, New Delhi, Coimbatore, Madurai, Thiruvarur and Thiruvannamalai respectively.
Periyar Maniammai University Online Admit Card Downloading Procedure:-
a) To download your online admit cards, applicants must log on to the university website at pmu.edu.
b) Go to the universities “Admissions” page of website for having the admit card links of university entrance exam.
c) Open the “Examinations” page of website to get the admit cards for other university examinations.
d) Now enter your registration number and/ or roll numbers inside the downloading windows and open the hall tickets online.
e) Download and save after checking that all the details have been mentioned correctly in it.
f) Print your hall tickets and carry the same on the examination day.
