NTSE Exam Pattern 2014 Test Pattern and Marking Scheme Details
The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is conducted for the higher secondary and senior secondary children who wish to participate in the concerned exam for gaining scholarships and certification for the same. The exam is conducted by the NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training) Delhi. The exam is held every year in the months of November and May respectively through common entrance held in the following two stages.

Examination Pattern for NTSE:
The NTSE (National Talent Search Examination) shall be conducted in two main stages- where the first stage shall consist of MAT (Mental Ability Test) and SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) respectively. The candidates should appear and qualify in both the levels of exam in the manner as given here below.
Paper Pattern for Stage I-
Part I: Mental Ability Test (50 Questions) 50 Marks
Duration: 45 Minutes
Part II: Scholastic Aptitude Test:
Language Test- (50 Questions) 50 Marks
Duration: 45 Minutes
Paper Pattern for Stage II-
Scholastic Aptitude Test:
Mathematics (30 Marks); Science (35 Marks); Social Science (35 Marks)
Total Number of Questions: 100
Total Marks Allotted: 100
Duration of Exam: 90 Minutes

Marking Criteria:
The candidates will be given 1 mark for each correct answer marked by them. There will be multiple choice based answers for each question in the exam having four options for each question. The applicants should get at least 40% marks for all the UR Candidates and 32% marks for the Reserved Category candidates respectively for qualifying in the concerned entrance exam.
The applicants qualifying in both the levels of the exam will be given 1000 scholarships by the NCERT. Also, the applicants scoring more than the specified percentage of marks and coming under the top ranks will be called in an Interview held subsequently after the written exams for felicitation and scholarships respectively.
