NIFT Exam Pattern 2014 Details for Examination and Marking Criteria
The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is the leading fashion technology institute in India providing admissions to all the candidates eligible in different under graduate courses including the following: Bachelor of Accessory Designing; Bachelor of Fashion Communication; Bachelor of Fashion Designing; Bachelor of Knitwear Designing; Bachelor of Leather Designing; Bachelor of Textile Designing and Apparel Production respectively.

Name of Exam: NIFT Entrance Exam
Conducting Authority: National Institute of Fashion Technology
Exam Pattern:
The candidates who wish to take admissions in the designing courses available at the under graduate as well as post graduate levels should go through the following two main tests:
1. GAT (General Ability Test) and
2. CAT (Creative Ability Test)
Whereas, the candidates who wish to appear in the Fashion Technology, Apparel Production and Fashion Management courses should appear and qualify in the following examinations:
1. GAT (General Ability Test)
2. MAT (Managerial Ability Test)
Syllabus of Study:
General Ability Test:
Communication Ability, Quantitative Ability, Analytical Ability, English Comprehension and Business Domain Test
Creative Ability Test:
Observational Questions, Innovation and Design related questions, Usage of color and illustrations and skill based questions on it

Managerial Ability Test:
Managerial Effectiveness and Interpersonal Skills based questions, Business Domain Test and Logical Ability respectively
Marking Criteria:
The candidates will be penalized in the form of 0.25 marks deducted for every wrong attempt made by the candidates
The candidates who wish to take admissions in the UG designing courses should appear and qualify in a separate Situation Test which will be followed by Group Discussion and Interview respectively. The weightage of marks will be as follows:
Situation Test: 20%
Group Discussion & Interview: 10% for both
Distribution of Questions in NIFT GAT (for Bachelor of Designing and Master of Designing):
Quantitative Ability: 25 Questions
Analytical Ability: 30 Questions
Communication Ability: 35 Questions
English Comprehension: 30 Questions and
General Knowledge & Current Affairs: 30 Questions
