NEET Exam Pattern 2016 – 2017 Details of Eligibility & Qualifying Criteria
NEET stands for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is the medical entrance exam conducted at the national level for all the eligible applicants who wish to enroll in different Under Graduate medical courses including –MBBS and BDS respectively. The exam is considered as one of the largest entrance exams in India to short list applicants in the medical courses preferred by most of the medical universities/ colleges in India. The entrance exam was brought into existence in the year 2013; organized by the Central Board of Secondary Education to short list candidates in the AIIMS New Delhi, AFMC (Armed Forces Medical College) and PGIMER (Post Graduate Institute for Medical Education and Research) Chandigarh.

Eligibility for Exam for Neet 2016 :
The applicants should be Class XII passed with a minimum of 50% marks obtained in the following subjects- Chemistry, Physics, Biotechnology/ Biology and English respectively. In addition to this, the qualifying age of all the applicants is minimum 17 years and maximum 25 years counted from 31st December of the concerned year. A minimum relaxation of 5% marks shall be granted to the General Category of Physically Challenged candidates and 10% for the SC/ST/OBC/SC-PH/OBC-PH/ST-PH respectively for this purpose.
Exam Pattern:
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test shall consist of objective type questions to be solved in the paper-pencil modes for the following three main sections-
Section I- Physics
Section II- Chemistry
Section III- Biology (Botany/ Zoology)
Total Number of Questions: 180
Total Marks Allotted: 720
Time of Exam: 10:00 am to 01:00 pm
Marking Criteria:
The applicants will be given 4 marks for every correct answer marked by the students while there will be deduction of 1 mark for every wrong answers marked by the applicants respectively. The paper will be held in the offline modes using the paper-pencil formats for this purpose.
