The Jain University has been set up as a deemed to be university in the year 2008 at Bangalore for providing admissions in different courses available under it. The university is promoted by the Jain University Trust of the JGI Group. The university, initially called as the Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College (SBMJC) was conferred the status of a deemed to be university on 19^th December 2008 and 24^th July 2009 by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
