ISS Exam Pattern 2014 Details for Paper Pattern and Qualifying Criteria
The Indian Statistical Service (ISS) exam is conducted all over India through the common competitive exams held by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year. The exam for the present session is scheduled to be held on 24th May 2014 for all the eligible applicants. Eligibility for Exam:
The applicants should be at least graduation passed from any recognized universities/ colleges in India for appearing in the Indian Statistical Services Exam.
Pattern of Exam:
The exam is conducted in the following two stages-
1. Written Exam
2. Interview
The UPSC conducts the common competitive exam for both the Indian Economic Services and Indian Statistical Services every year on a single date. Those applicants who are preparing for the concerned examinations may go through the examination schemes from the information as given here below.

Paper Pattern for Written Exam:
Total Marks Allotted: 1000
Duration of Exam: 3 Hours
Type of Questions: Essay Type/ Descriptive
Subjects of Questions:
Paper I: General English (100 Marks)
Duration of Exam: 3 Hours
Paper II: General Studies (100 Marks)
Duration of Exam: 3 Hours
Paper III: Statistics I (200 Marks)
Duration of Exam: 3 Hours
Paper IV: Statistics II (200 Marks)
Duration of Exam: 3 Hours
Paper V: Statistics III (200 Marks)
Duration of Exam: 3 Hours
Paper VI: Statistics IV (200 Marks)
Duration of Exam: 3 Hours
The candidates will be given questions in both the languages- English as well as Hindi. The candidates can prepare as per the syllabus of the qualifying degree exam for the concerned exam. The candidates successfully qualifying in the written exam shall be called to attend the final round of selection i.e. Viva- Voce and Interview scheduled to be held subsequently after the written exam for all the written qualified candidates only.
