JEE Main Exam Pattern 2014 Details of Paper Pattern and Qualifying Criteria
The Joint Engineering Entrance (JEE) Main Examination is the national level common entrance exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to short list eligible applicants in the under graduate levels of engineering courses. Every year lot of candidates participates in the concerned engineering entrance exam to take admissions in the Bachelor of Technology /Bachelor of Engineering courses respectively. Initially, there used to be examination held in two stages- Preliminary and Main Exams respectively. From previous year, the IIT JEE Main has been renamed as JEE Advance and AIEEE as JEE Main respectively.

Given below are the complete details of the paper pattern and eligibility for the applicants to go through.
Name of Exam: Joint Engineering Entrance Exam
Conducting Authority: Central Board of Secondary Education
Courses of Admission: B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology)/ BE (Bachelor of Engineering)
Eligibility for Exam:
The applicants should be Intermediate /Class 12th passed with the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from any central/ state Boards of Secondary Education. The candidates will have a maximum of three attempts to appear in the concerned examination.
Examination Pattern:
The paper shall have two papers in the Joint Engineering Entrance Exam on the following two subjects:
Paper 1: For admissions to the Engineering Courses
Paper 2: For admissions to the Architecture/ Planning Courses

Mode of Exam:
The Paper 1 shall be conducted in either of the modes- online or offline. On the other hand , the exam for the Paper 2 shall be made available in offline modes only with pen and paper format of answering questions for all the applicants of the JEE Main.
Duration of Exam: 3 Hours
Marking Scheme:
The Joint Engineering Exam shall be conducted in the computer based formats for the Paper 1. The markings in the exam shall be as follows:
a) 4 marks for correct answers
b) One-fourth of the total marks shall be deducted for wrong answers
c) 0 marks shall be given for the unattempted questions in the entrance exam respectively
Equal Weightage shall be given to all the sections in the exam.
