The Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University or Gorakhpur University is a teaching cum affiliating university providing educational services through about 125 affiliated colleges spread across 12 districts of the state. The Gorakhpur University was officially started in the year 1956 by the passing of an Act of UP Legislature. The university has got seven faculties to provide for the higher education facilities in the following major disciplines: Agriculture, Medicine, Engineering, Science, Law, Education, Commerce and Arts respectively. Those candidates who have been enrolled in the university programmes are required to appear in the term end examinations conducted in the months of April/ May and October/ November respectively.
