About – Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act formerly known as National Rural Employment Guarantee Act came into existence in the year 2006.It is a scheme brought by Government of India in order to provide social security to the rural people. The major aim of MGNREGA is to guarantee ‘right to work’. In the World Development Report 2014, the World Bank has addressed the whole scheme of MGNREGA as ‘a stellar example of rural development’. Currently MGNREGA is supervising their scheme over 661 districts of the country.
