DCE Admissions 2014 Application Forms & Eligibility Criteria

The Delhi College of Engineering, initially called as the Delhi Polytechnic was brought into existence in the year 1941 for providing technical education to the students in the areas of engineering and technology. The College is now called as the Delhi Technical University. The college became a part of the Delhi University in the year 1952 and started to provide degree courses through formal programmes. The university was under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Education, Government of India till 1962 which was shifted to the Delhi Administration in the year 1963.

The university offers education in the following main disciplines: Biotechnology, Civil & Environmental, Computers, Electrical, Electronics & Computers, Information Technology, Mechanical & Production, Applied Chemistry, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics and Humanities respectively.

Admission Procedure:

1. Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech)

The candidates are invited admissions to its Bachelor of Technology course through the merit obtained in the qualifying examinations, and rank obtained in the JEE (Main) Exam 2014. The candidates shortlisted on the basis of merit obtained in Class 12th (40% marks) and performance in JEE (Main) Exam (60% marks) will be called for the Counseling scheduled to be held at the university for all the qualified candidates. The university organizes counseling usually in the second week of July for all the candidates.

Counseling Fees: Rs.1000 has to be paid drawn in favor of the Registrar, Delhi Technological University payable at New Delhi only. The candidates can use the online fee bank challan for registration from the website of the university at dtuadmissions.nic.in.

2. Master of Technology (M.Tech)

There are basically three categories of courses that come under this- Full Time Two year course, Sponsored Full Time Two year course and Part Time three year course respectively. The online admission for the M.Tech Course starts from the last week of April for all the eligible and qualified candidates.

Short listing Criteria:

The candidates will be selected on the basis of their scores in the GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) 2014 for getting admissions in the full time course.

The candidates seeking admissions in the sponsored full time or part time courses will be based on the marks secured in the qualifying degree exam as well as their performances in the written test and interview respectively.

The candidates are required to bring the following at the time of Admissions:

1. Marksheets and Pass Certificates of Class 10th and 12th in original

2. Marksheets and Diploma Certificates of all the Semesters of qualifying Examinations

3. Caste Certificates (for SC/ST/PWD/OBC candidates)

4. Experience Certificates (for candidates seeking admissions in the part time course)

5. Employers Company Profile (for working candidates)

Apart from this, the candidates are also offered admission in Bachelor of Technology (lateral entry) on the basis of vacant seats after the main admissions. The admissions will be based on the marks obtained in the qualifying exam and in case of equal marks; the candidates born earlier will be preferred.
