CUSAT Exam Pattern 2014 Eligibility, Paper Pattern and Qualifying Criteria
The CUSAT (Cochin University of Science & Technology) conducts the common entrance exam, also called as the CAT (Common Admission Test) to provide admissions in different courses including the following: LLM, LLB, B.Tech, B.Com, MA, MCA, M.Sc and Phd courses respectively. Name of Exam: Common Admission Test
Conducting Authority: Cochin University of Science & Technology
Courses of Admission: PG Courses in Engineering
Eligibility for Exam:
The candidates in order to participate in the concerned entrance exam should have passed Bachelor of Technology (Civil/ CSE/ Electronics/ Electrical/ IT/ Mechanical/ Safety and Fire/ Polymer Science/ Instrumentation/ Marine engineering) with a minimum of 60% marks obtained in the following subjects- Physics/ Mathematics/ Chemistry and/ or English respectively.
Paper Pattern:
The Common Admission Test shall consist of objective type multiple choice questions on the following main subjects:
Mathematics (125 Questions)
Physics (75 Questions)
Chemistry (25 Questions)
Total Number of Questions: 250
Duration of Exam: 3 Hours
Marking Pattern:
3 Marks will be added for every right attempt made by the applicants. There will be negative marking in the exam in the form of 1 mark deducted for every wrong attempts made by them respectively.

Syllabus of Study:
There will be two papers in the exam – Paper I: Mathematics and Paper II: Physics and Chemistry respectively. The candidates preparing for the concerned entrance exam should refer the syllabus of the Class 11th and 12th respectively for qualifying in the concerned entrance exam.

Sequences and Series/ Vector Algebra/ Co-Ordinate Geometry/ Integral Calculus/ Matrices and Determinants/ Differential Equations/ Sets, Relation and Functions/ Statistics and Probability/ Mathematical Reasoning/ Complex Numbers and Quadratic Equations etc
Physics:
Current Electricity/ Laws of Motion/ Atoms and Nuclei/ Gravitation/ Optics/ Physics and Measurement/ Communication Systems/ Current Electricity/ Oscillation and Waves/ Thermodynamics/ Kinetic Theory of Gases/ Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism etc
Chemistry:
Equilibrium/ Atomic Structure/ Solutions/ Hydrogen/ Hydrocarbons/ Environmental Chemistry/ Chemical Kinetics/ States of Matter/ Block Elements/ Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure/ Surface Chemistry/ Purification and Characterization of Organic Chemistry etc
