CLAT Exam Pattern 2014 Details for LLB and LLM Admissions
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2014 is scheduled to be conducted for the present session on 11th May 2014. The candidates who have applied for the exam should go through the paper pattern and the qualifying criteria for the exam from the information as given below. The Common Law Admission Test provides admission to the candidates in the LLB and LLM courses respectively in the participating colleges and institutes of Law admitting students through this exam.

Exam Pattern for CLAT 2014:
1. For Under Graduate Courses:
The candidates have to answer 200 questions of multiple choice type to be completed within the specified time as stated for this purpose. The exam includes questions on the following main topics:
1. English Language Comprehension: 40 Marks
2. Logical Reasoning: 40 Marks
3. General Knowledge and Current Affairs: 50 Marks
4. Legal Aptitude: 50 Marks
5. Elementary Mathematics: 20 Marks
Total Number of Questions: 200
Total Marks Allotted: 200 Marks
Duration of Exam: 2 Hours

For Paper I:
English Comprehension:
Grammar based questions on fill in blanks, appropriate words, grammatical sentences and passage based questions

General Awareness and General Knowledge both static and current
Mathematics:
Syllabus of High School/ Class 10th in elementary mathematics
Legal Aptitude:
Research Aptitude and Problem Solving Ability in law

Analogies, Syllogisms, Visual Reasoning and Logical Sequences
2. Post Graduate Courses:
The candidates’ applying to the LLM courses contains two sections in the paper. The first section pertains to the Long Essay Type Descriptive Questions of 100 Marks. The questions asked in this section will be entirely based on the subjects like Constitutional Law and Jurisprudence.
The second section of the paper contains multiple choice questions on subjects other than those contained in the first section of the paper.
Distribution of Questions:
Long Essay Type Descriptive Questions: 4 Questions of 25 Marks each
Multiple Choice Questions: 50 Questions of 1 Mark each
Total Marks Allotted: 150
Duration of Exam: 2 Hours
Negative marking in the form of 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer in this section of the paper.
