The Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University has been brought into existence by the passing of an Act of Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly –Jammu & Kashmir Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Act No XVI of 2002. The university is known for its job oriented courses available in the following main disciplines: Business Management, Financial Management, Information Technology, Computer Sciences, Arabic, Applied Mathematics, and Biotechnology & Bioresources respectively.  The main courses under which students can enroll include the following: BCA, BA Arabic (Hons.), and BBA and Diploma courses in Electronics, Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
