The BR Ambedkar Open University is one of the first open universities established in India. Formerly known as the Andhra Pradesh Open University, the university was set up as on 26^th August 1982 by the passing of an Act of Andhra Pradesh State Legislature (APOU Act 1982) for this purpose. The university provides admission in a number of courses including the following: BA, B.Com, B.Sc., B.Ed., MA, M.Com, M.Ed., etc.

The admissions to the university courses are usually done on the basis of the common entrance exam held annually in the April/ May months for all the eligible candidates. The applicants qualifying in the common entrance exam are required to appear in the counseling for final admission and seat allotment respectively. The university recently conducted the counseling for applicants qualifying in the entrance exam for admissions under M.Ed., B.Ed., and B.Ed. (Special Education) 2014-15. 4) Download and save a soft copy of your admit card online so that you can print it in future, if required.

The applicants are required to carry their admit cards positively on the examination day as entry would be strictly prohibited in its absence.
