The Awadhesh Pratap Singh University has been established on 20^th July 1968 as a teaching cum affiliating university having its jurisdiction spread in the following districts of Rewa: Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Shahdol, Umariya and Singrauli respectively. The university got its name from the Captain Awadhesh Pratap Singh, an eminent freedom fighter of the place. The university has affiliations with about 150 colleges of the state.
