Who Are The Intruders On The New Republic Ship?

The inaugural episode of Ahsoka lays down the foundation, skillfully incorporating explanations. It’s been a considerable stretch of time since aficionados were treated to a Star Wars series that ventures beyond the established lore. Amidst the vastness of space, a vessel of the New Republic traverses, and as fate would have it, the crew detects an unfamiliar craft transmitting a Jedi code. After granting permission for the enigmatic ship to dock, two figures concealed in hoods emerge onto the scene – none other than Baylan Kroll (portrayed by the late Ray Stevenson) and his apprentice, Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno). The mysterious arrivals draw their lightsabers, swiftly cleaving through the crew onboard, all while liberating Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto). For those loyal since The Mandalorian, the recollection of Ahsoka’s triumph over Morgan and her subsequent arrest comes to mind. The intention had been to transport Morgan to face justice, but in a blink, the crew is vanquished, and the prisoner is emancipated. Her primary concern revolves around reclaiming a map that unveils the path to Admiral Thrawn. Yet, she isn’t alone in this endeavor; her long-standing adversary, Ahsoka Tano, shares the same objective.

What Does Ahsoka Find Underground?

Our protagonist, Ahsoka, comes into view while leisurely traversing an abandoned expanse of sand, where imposing obelisks configure into an odd circular formation. Employing a swift pirouette with her pair of lightsabers, Ahsoka carves the earth, descending into the depths below. Guided by a sequence of enigmas, she embarks on a journey that culminates in the unearthing of an intricately carved sphere. This modest sphere encapsulates crucial information about the whereabouts of her adversary, Thrawn. Yet, Ahsoka scarcely has a moment to recuperate, for she finds herself encircled by droids just outside the subterranean chamber. Trained in the ways of the Jedi by none other than Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka cleaves through the mechanized entities with remarkable grace, subsequently vaulting onto a vessel piloted by her dependable droid companion, Huyang. In a dramatic twist, the hostile droids succumb to self-destruction.

Who’s Sabine Wren?

Ahsoka rendezvouses with Hera Syndulla, the adept pilot of the Ghost Ship and a vital member of the Lothal Rebellion. She confides in Hera, sharing the contents of the freshly acquired map. The map discloses details concerning Thrawn, although Hera is taken aback by the notion that the Admiral might still be alive. This is also the point at which Ezra comes into the picture. To provide context, the setting transitions to Lothal (not the ancient city of the Indus Valley Civilization). Amidst a gathering of Lothal’s citizens, commemorating the legacy of the Ghost’s crew, particularly Ezra Bridger, presumed lost in the Battle of Lothal, Sabine Wren’s absence is conspicuous.

Sabine, a pivotal member of the crew, races on her speeder to her modest abode. There, she engages a recording of Ezra – someone she had come to view as a brother. Ahsoka’s entrance alters the atmosphere as she delivers a startling proclamation: the possibility that Ezra might still be alive. However, accessing him necessitates the assistance of her former apprentice. Yet, friction simmers between the two women until Huyang arrives, bearing crucial tidings. Following an analysis of the lightsabers utilized on the New Republic ship, the droid deduces that one of the blades belongs to Baylan Skoll – a skilled Jedi who withdrew from the scene after the culmination of the Clone Wars.

Ahsoka entrusts Sabine with the map and earnestly urges her to decipher the enigma, thereby facilitating their trajectory toward Thrawn and, consequently, Ezra’s whereabouts. Nevertheless, when has a meticulously considered directive from a superior ever been heeded by a less seasoned and somewhat immature counterpart?

What Happens To The Map Containing Thrawn’s Details?

Naturally, Sabine sets off with the map, making her way to a secluded residence situated far from the protective confines of the Imperial establishment. Utilizing her astute intellect, Sabine ingeniously deciphers the correct method to unlock the sphere. This action reveals a three-dimensional portrayal of vast galaxies, replete with clues pointing towards the potential whereabouts of Thrawn. Like precision mechanics, her surroundings abruptly transform into a trap as two droids spring forth, catching her unawares. In a swift display of skill, Sabine neutralizes one adversary, but the other cunningly pilfers the map. In a calculated move, this droid eradicates all traces of machinery in Sabine’s workspace, erasing any potential records.

In the ensuing pursuit of the thieving droid, Sabine finds herself confronted by Shin Hati, who wields her own lightsaber. Armed with the lightsaber that belonged to her ‘brother’ Ezra, Sabine engages in a face-off against the intruder obstructing her path to discovering her sibling’s fate. A fierce skirmish ensues, and Shin progressively gains ground against Sabine – the former apprentice of Ahsoka Tano. Notably, Ahsoka herself is en route to the scene of the duel. However, her arrival proves slightly belated, as Shin thrusts her crimson blade through Sabine’s abdomen. In a hasty retreat with the pilfered map, Shin leaves Sabine – a member of the Ghost crew – crumpled on the ground.

How Does Episode 1 End?

The map disclosing the whereabouts of Thrawn falls into the possession of Skoll’s apprentice, Shin, who now embarks on the journey back to her master and Morgan, armed with this newfound puzzle piece. Though Sabine held a fleeting notion of Thrawn’s potential location, the obliteration of her equipment and her grave injuries cast doubt on the likelihood of the Jedi stumbling upon any significant clues. Certainly, the self-proclaimed sorceress, Morgan Elsbeth, might prove more adept at deciphering the enigmatic riddle, which holds intricate details about her master as she readies herself to facilitate his resurgence. Nevertheless, one fact remains certain: Sabine survives the assault, yet not without carrying the weight of profound wounds, becoming the latest young soul to comprehend the repercussions of disregarding the wisdom of her elders.

As Ahsoka endeavors to unearth clues in the subsequent episode, navigating her path to Thrawn, Sabine finds herself inexorably entangled in tribulation as she gazes into the eyes of her former mentor. In that moment, the realization sinks in – her inadvertent actions have furnished their adversaries with the coordinates of perhaps the most formidable menace the galaxy has encountered, rivaling even Emperor Palpatine himself.
