The EIILM University Sikkim has been set up by the passing of Sikkim State Legislature Act No 4 of 2008 through Government of Sikkim. The university has been recognized by the UGC Act Section 2 (f) and a member of Association of Indian Universities. Also, EIILM University is one of the first of its kind to be awarded the prestigious ISO 9001: 14001 certification by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service for standard of environmental business management. The main courses offered by the university are available in the following disciplines: Management, Biotech & Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science & IT, Science, Hospitality & Tourism, Media & Communication, Arts & Commerce and Fashion respectively.

The applicants are invited for admissions to the different courses of university twice a year in the months of January-June session and July-December sessions respectively.
