Karnataka Residential Educational Institutions Society (KREIS) was created in order to provide quality education for the SC/ST/BC Rural students.  These residential schools are started in the form of the Central Government’s Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. It aims at providing quality education to socially and economically backward people. T\It has a total number of 838 schools under which 500 are SC Schools, 153 are ST School, and 165 are BC Schools.

Every year s KREIS conducts entrance examination for the Admission of students in class VI. The entrance exam is generally conducted every year around March and the result is expected to be released in the month of May.
