PBS Western Reserve Mourns Untimely Passing of New President and CEO, David Rotterman, at 59

At the age of 59, Rotterman assumed leadership of the entity responsible for overseeing PBS affiliates WEAO Channel 49 in Akron and WNEO Channel 45 in Stark County. His tenure began on July 17 following his appointment on June 30. The precise cause of his passing remains undisclosed.

Retiring President and CEO Trina Cutter conveyed her shock, stating, “The sudden loss of Dave, who swiftly became an integral part of the PBS Western Reserve family due to his compassion and authenticity, is profoundly disheartening. The potential that he could have unlocked as the leader is now a mournful void. Our thoughts are with his loved ones as we grieve this loss.”

During this interim period, Jeffery Good, Chief Education Technology Officer and a veteran of 17 years at PBS Western Reserve, will fulfill the role of acting General Manager.

Romona Davis, Chairwoman of Northeastern Educational Television of Ohio, which owns WNEO and WEAO, also expressed her condolences. She remarked, “While the journey ahead is challenging, the board members hold firm in their belief that the current team will steadfastly continue the mission of PBS Western Reserve.”

Rotterman, hailing from Ohio, returned to the state after dedicating 23 years to Buffalo Toronto Public Media.
