How To Check Ration Card DBT Status Karnataka?

The Congress government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, recently implemented the direct bank transfer service as part of the Anna Bhagya Scheme in Karnataka. This initiative began on Monday, July 10, 2023. The scheme entails providing cash payments of Rs 34 per kg to creditors for an extra 5 kg of rice, in addition to the free rice scheme. This benefit applies to all members of Below Poverty Line (BPL) households and Antyodaya households. Continue reading to find further information in the following section.

The funds for the Anna Bhagya Scheme were intended to be directly transferred to the bank accounts of the creditors, which are linked to the Aadhar numbers of the heads of Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. The state government of Karnataka has stated that there are approximately 1.28 crore ration cards for Antyodaya Anna Yojana and Priority Households in the state. It has been reported that 99 percent of these cards are associated with an Aadhar number, and 82 percent of these cards are linked to active bank accounts. As per the scheme, the creditors will receive the amount for the additional 5 kg of rice at a subsidized rate of Rs 34 per kg through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into their bank accounts.

Unfortunately, approximately 22 lakh Below Poverty Line (BPL) families might not receive immediate benefits under the Anna Bhagya Scheme as their bank accounts are not yet linked to Aadhar numbers. Before delving further into the details, it is essential to understand what the Anna Bhagya Scheme entails. The scheme pledges to offer an additional 5 kg of rice to BPL cardholders and was one of the five electoral commitments made by the Congress party prior to the Assembly polls held on May 10. To gain a comprehensive understanding of the scheme, please continue reading.

Under the Anna Bhagya Scheme, it has been established that out of the total allocation of 10 kg of rice, five kg is provided by the Central government, which creditors have been receiving for a considerable period. The state government of Karnataka has introduced an additional five kg of rice, but instead, it transfers Rs 170 per month to the bank accounts of the creditors. The decision to adopt direct benefit transfer was made by the Karnataka government due to its inability to procure rice from the Food Corporation of India and other sources. However, there have been instances where some creditors have not received the initial installment under the Anna Bhagya Scheme.
