GATE 2016
GATE (General Aptitude Test in Engineering) is an examination conducted in India to test the knowledge of candidate in different undergraduate subject of Technology / Architecture / Engineering. In order to take admission in various Master’s and Doctoral courses contenders must have a valid GATE 2016 score card. Aspirants willing to apply for GATE 2016 should have good preparation. About GATE-
GATE is jointly administered by seven IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) and IISc (Indian Institute of Science). The IISc (Indian Institute of Science) is the organizing institute for GATE 2016 which will be responsible for the end-to-end process and coordination amongst the administering Institutes. The GATE-2016 test will be conducted online through a Computer Based Test.
Academic Eligibility-
Contenders who wish to apply for the specified test should have obtained B.Tech / BE / B.Sc / B.Arch / B.Pharm / M.Sc / MCA / MA (ME / M.Tech 5 year programme) in relevant subjects from a known University / Institute.
Exam Pattern-
The GATE 2016 paper for all the subjects comprises of 65 questions which carries 100 marks. The question paper will include both multiple choice questions and numerical answer type questions. 10 questions will be asked from General Aptitude and it will carry 15 marks. Each subject paper has a specific code. For example EE is the code for Electrical Engineering.
A). Papers with codes GG, EY, PH, MA, CY, XL and AR : The question paper includes questions from General Aptitude and subject of the paper-
a). General Aptitude : 15% of the total marks
b). Subject of the Paper : 85% of the total marks
B). Papers with codes ME, IN, EE, EC, XE, TF, CH, CE,PI, MT, MN, CS, AG, BT and AE- The question paper includes questions from Engineering Mathematics, General Aptitude and subject of the paper-
a). Engineering Mathematics : 15% of the total marks
b). General Aptitude : 15% of the total marks
c). Subject of the Paper : 70% of the total marks
Registration Cost-
Application fee is Rs.750 for Women & SC / ST / PWD category aspirants and Rs.1500 is the application fee for all other category aspirants. It should be paid either through online net banking or through e-Challan.
Application Details :
Aspirants can apply online for the concerned test by visiting the website : gate.iisc.ernet.in . Scanned copy of required documents must be uploaded by the aspirants and all required details must be filled properly. Candidates must make payment of the application fee through proper mode and submit the completely filled online application form.
Crucial Dates :
1st of Oct 2015 is the final date for submitting the online application
17th of Dec 2015 is the date of issue of admit card
